Our sales manager Ombretta interviews the designer and CEO of Brownyard.

Tell us a bit more about you…

Hello, we are head designer Hoonmin Song from Brownyard and CEO Jeon Kim running Brownyard.

How do you find creative inspiration?  Is American sportswear inspirational to you? why?

Hoonmin Designer:

I don’t specifically seek inspiration; rather, I naturally find it in my daily life. Sometimes it’s from clothes, objects, or words. When curious, I research and study their history, infusing my designs with my colors and Brownyard’s sensibility.

Kimjeon CEO:

I draw inspiration from the cultural history of clothing, integrating traditional styles into everyday wear.

We like your way of combining fashion and architecture in outfit and moodboard. Feel like telling more about this peculiar choice?

Hoonmin Designer:

We didn’t intentionally combine clothing and architecture, but focusing on proportions and balance in clothing naturally led to a feeling reminiscent of architectural forms.

It’s about conveying precision, proportion, structure, and balance, similar to what you find in building or portrait photography.

Kimjeon CEO:

Our products and architecture share unity, change, and harmony, creating balance. While it may seem like we integrate with architecture, our emphasis is on space.

What do you like the most of the fabrics you chose from us?

Hoonmin Designer:

Among the great fabrics at Canclini, I personally love ARGENTO TP 3034 W010 0035. It’s a rational choice for me, as it’s a high-quality shirt fabric, and when I tried it during sampling,

it had the right weight and my favorite color. It started based on my preference, and customers also seem to love it.

Kimjeon CEO:

I also prefer ARGENTO 3034 W010 0035. It’s made with a thin thread (120/1), resulting in a smooth surface and minimal fatigue even after washing. The color retention and minimal shrinkage after washing are also great.

What is your attitude towards seasonal collections?

Hoonmin Designer:

I always approach seasonal planning with joy and aim to conclude it without regrets.

Kimjeon CEO:

I enjoy preparing for the season, but when concluding, I think about improvements and changes for the next season.

We visited your great concept store in Seoul: any different plans for the future?

Hoonmin Designer:

Rather than future plans, our focus is on the Balance Line, where we propose a lifestyle beyond just selling clothes. The first theme is running, and we want to concentrate on this before looking into other aspects. Ultimately, we hope our brand can be experienced and purchased worldwide.

Kimjeon CEO:

Our goal is to create a balance in life, and the Balance Line will help achieve that. We plan to showcase our progress worldwide in the future.
